FWIW, the entire problem with this car ended up...

FWIW, the entire problem with this car ended up being a dead battery. Showed ~12V, but had no amperage available to actually do anything with. New battery fixed the problem.

ESM problems W210

Just checking, but is it possible to install/program a used ESM module in a W210 ('98 E300)? I know on the newer vehicles it needs to be a new module, but wasn't sure on a car this old. Thanks!

Where exactly are you going to 'buy your own R-12'? It's been out of production since 1994 and I believe illegal to sell new for years. You're stuck with ebay or locals who may sell some for cash.

I installed the ECU tonight and went for a drive. Not a noticeable difference in top-end power, but off-idle and throttle control are spectacularly better. Worth every penny. Still won't do a burnout...
