Never tried or thought of it. What would I learn from that? If it does run at 3 k with no issues, does that mean the trans is OK?

The original flex coupling was only a year old...

The original flex coupling was only a year old and looked fine. When I drove it and found I had a vibration, I replaced it with a new one. So I don't think that is the issue.

I recently installed a rebuilt transmission and while I was at it I have replaced the following:
Flex coupling
Vibration damper
centering sleeve
intermediate bearing

The engine & trans mounts...
