Same thing my glow plug dash light stopped working, car seems to start fine though.

I have a 78 300d nonturbo same thing, dont know...

I have a 78 300d nonturbo same thing, dont know if its a 3 or 4 speed,revs like crazy at 70mph,also shifts very late 1st to 2nd about 30mph and 2nd to 3rd about 50mph.

I recenty bought a 1978 300d non turbo,shifts late from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd(is it a 3 or 4 speed?).Does not smoke.engine is pinging like a gas engine,and finally now the glow plug light does...
