1987 560SL, the trunk release button is stuck in, trunk won't open, vacuum pump is kaput, so i can't open the gas cap, & the fuel is running low! :(

I need some advice on removal of the torque converter. It appears to me that the only way to get at the bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate is through the starter...
