First before trying to fix all this stuff you need to get a FSM. The cheapest way to do that is on CD.

I don't remember which fuse it is unfortunitly.

I forget the exact procedure since its been awhile but they are simple to get at. You need to remove the glove box and kick panal under it.

Sand and dirt gets into the motor and after 20 years...

Yep, you can remove the motor and spray some oil on the shaft to try and buy yourself some time. I did and gained like 6 months. Or just replace it, they are not to expensive I think I got a new one...
