I checked the wiring diagram. 8, 9 and 10 at the head unit do indeed go to ground, and not to the CD player. The rest of the wires do go there, with no additional ground points at the CD player...

That looks like the connector to my radio head unit. If so, 8-10 are definitely not what that above diagram describes. On mine, there are three brown wires there, which I believe all run to ground...
