I meant the linkage of the shutoff valve itself,...

I meant the linkage of the shutoff valve itself, inside the IP. Doesn't that arm lead somewhere on the 'control rod'?

is it due to an aging diaphragm, or worn linkage elements?

I have noticed this slow shutdown symptom on other cars, mine certainly isn't perfect. But if its a simple fix like that... I'll keep...

Are you suggesting that slop in the linkage should be considered a common culprit?
