Engine oil? I don't think it has ever said engine oil for the transmission. As far as I know straight ATF or Dexron II has been specified for manual transmissions from about 1975 (perhaps earlier) up...

You'll always get glitter in your manual...
You'll always get glitter in your manual transmission oil and your differential oil. If you end up with shifting issues - change the oil back to the prescribed ATF
