I'll probably stay with the Rotella syn at $14...

I'll probably stay with the Rotella syn at $14 for the 617. The cost is about the same at a 5K interval.

If the Mobil 1 every reappears, I might extend the drain to 7K and see how the soot holds...

I ran Castrol 15W-40, super duty for five years...

I ran Castrol 15W-40, super duty for five years in the W123. Don't have much of an opinion one way or the other. Ran it 4K per change. AFAIK, the W123 is still running fine at about 250K now.
