Got new motor oil.."It had me at "no glug".

Just did my 294,000 mi oil change, and instead of Rotella I was taken in by Castrol Techion Extra; Anyone ever use this oil before?
Any reports?
Nice bottle, it has a "no glug" spout!
that's what probably got me. Pretty cool this tube comes out about 2" extra and no glugging! Also has a side handle for pouring.

and I remembered to put in my new oil pan bolt I got from Phil.

I bought 4 cases when Advance had it on sale for $5 a gallon. It meets all the usual manufacturers specs so it's probably good stuff. And the two handled container is great to use. I'll buy another 4 cases if it goes that cheap again since Advance raised the prices of oil again and plain old gasoline engine oil is now $1.38 a quart.

I've used it for the last 2 oil changes. I'm sold. I'm usually a Delo or delvac buyer.

Is it synthetic, dino, or a blend? I've never heard of it but now you've got me curious. It'll have to be pretty good to get me away from Mobil 1, however.

I use a big funnel into the hole on the engine cover anyways when I dump in my rotella, so I have no problem with "glugging" I have 1.5 gallons poured in within 40 seconds.....

Buy 1 Get 1 Free

A month ago Kragen was giving out coupons, and there is one where you can buy one get one free for Castrol Tection Extra diesel oil 15W-40. The coupon expires 1/31/06. At $5.99 for two, it is a deal. There may be more of these coupons at the store.
For those who may not know, this is a new synthetic oil from Castrol.

No coupons at Advance or discounted price.

I paid 7.44 per gallon... but
just found a rebate on their website for $6.00
here's a link to their Technion MO.
http://www.castrol.com/castrol/productdetail.do?categoryId=9001936&contentId=7003181
and it appears to be synthetic

I use the big funnel that MB supplied with the engine. The oil filter goes in there when you're done.

That's exactly what I just said, Don.

I fill all but about the last half-quart through the filter housing. On a 606, you have the added bonus of not risking flooding the valve seals with oil.
