Extra "Regional" forums
Could we have regional forums here? Maybe a UK one, ones for certain areas of the USA, an Australia/NZ one, etc.?
I'm on a British car forum (www.pistonheads.com/gassing ), with a 'Regional' section and sub forums for different areas of the UK. It's very nice to drop in there, and chat with people about some event which is going on in the area, cars seen in the area, meet ups to have, local things and generally meet people from nearby to add to the community feeling. For example I know there's many UK people here, but I'd love to chat to them more. It would be great to say to them "what do you think of the dealers in the UK", "where's a good MB specialist in England" or "can someone in London check out this car advertised on ebay". Additionally, I could drop into the West Coast forum and say "I'm going to California on holiday, what's a good hotel there" or "who wants to pick me up from the airport ". It's a lot of fun, and also would give somewhere to hang out for those hating the war-obsessed open discussion. The only issues are moderation. There wouldn't be many posts in each one, and each would have relatively few members so it would nearly self-moderate. But there's easily a high posting member here from each area who could moderate their regional forum. Or if there's noone to moderate a region, there's no forum for that region (evil I know..) I hope this can expand the community Russ P.S. I will moderate a UK forum.....

Please!
Open forums for different areas, for those wanting to discuss local things to them. With no Hot Rod, Performance Car or Diesel car I feel like I don't have a group I belong to here . I really reckon this would be a good idea! If it's not you can come to England for a free pint. Russ :

The main reservation I have with creating more forums is that it may fragment MercedesShop. I've seen other websites that have tons of small forums with little or no posts.
With all that said, we're open to anything as long as there's sufficient demand. Anyway, I would like the free pint!

I agree, and posted about not wanting things to be split up once (Change for the sake of change was the one).
However since then Open Discussion became an oversized abomination with 0.1% of members dominating it with war and 'liberal' talk whatever that is. I've just noticed the new decision of no political talk which pleases me and probably means no need for regional forums or such . If that doesn't work out though, they can have a 'politics' forum to hang out in and be sad, and the rest of us can have our Open Discussion back. regards Russ

I don't see a need for regional forums. In fact I'd like to see Vintage lumped in with tech. The group is small and, both groups would benefit. I am registered with another forum and don't go there often, because the threads are unorganized and everyone just wants to chew the fat. Mercedesshop is a good exchange of info forum, and I like the world wide exposure. If you want to get local, there should be a Mercedes Benz Club in your area. They are all over the US and very regional. There is a head quarters and local sections. You just send in an application and join a section close to you.
