We have been selling the MB service CD's at basically $0 profit. This has really been a service to our members. Unfortunatly, MBUSA and our supplier have also raised prices. The higher price means that we are also paying higher credit card processing charges per order. We are now losing money with each order.
Bottom line...we will have to implement a major price increase on ALL service CD's effective Monday 1/24/00. If you have been thinking about buying a CD, buy now!
In the future we may offer CD's at a reduced rate with large $ part purchases or for frequent shoppers...we haven't decided yet.

Why doesn't Mercedes sell service manuals or cd's for newer cars? I have a 98 E320 and was told that I would't be able to obtain a service manual for three years. This is my first Mercedes, in the past I have ordered service manuals from GM and Honda the same day I bought the vehicles new.

I can't really answer your question as to why Mercedes does this. I know that they are only issuing manuals via CD-ROM now and that they don't issue the CD's until the chassis is out of production and all changes have been incorporated into the drawings.
My guess is that they really want all of the new cars to be serviced at the dealerships.
