All forums in the Shop Forum now require registration to post a new topic or reply. Anyone can still read messages and use the Shop Forum search engine. This has always been the case with Shop Swap Classifieds but is now the case with all forums.
Registration continues to be FREE and hopefully painless.
We decided to do this for several reasons.
- All of our "regulars" are registered anyway
- We need to show continued growth in unique users so we can continue to attract advertisers who help us pay the bills
- Registration helps us maintain some control over the site so things don't get out of hand

If anyone has a major problem with this please e-mail me ( webmaster@peachparts.com ) or post a reply here. Since most people who post in the Shop Forum are registered members anyway, I don't think it will be a big deal.

Hello Bill Wood:

I have no problem with mandatory registration but I'm wondering if you provide the registration list to your advertisers...I recently received an un-requested catalog from Precision Auto Designs and, while not unwelcome, I don't know where they got my mailing address, except for the clue that "www" appears on my customer code on their mailing label.

I'm not saying your site was responsibile - you don't collect mailing addresses, but it brings the issue to mind now that you require registration.

Please state whether your list provides registered member info to advertisers or anyone else...then people can decide if they want to register based on full disclosure.

Thanks :p

Good question.
We do not and have never supplied our member list to any advertisers...or anyone else for that matter.
Personally, I receive FAR MORE junk mail than I care to receive. Usually I see an increase in junk mail whenever I post a message in the Usenet Newsgroups.
