My condolences to family and friends, shame we lost a good man like Phil

I called him a couple of times about parts and it was such pleasure dealing with him, we sure did loose a great guy.

R.I.P Phil

Have not logged on for several months. So sad to learn this news. Phil was a standout guy. Patient, good humored and always willing to help out. He will be missed. Thoughts are with the family.

Sincerely,

1st call to dealer now.

Phil was a friend.
Now we must wait even longer to shake hands.
I completely misunderstood his importance in my life. Always there. I would wait to speak with him, in the face of disaster. He would not place you on hold even with ringing from multiple phones in the background. If he did not answer he would call back even if I didn't leave a message. He once sent an obscure part on Sunday when my wife was due to leave on a trip with the car on Monday, at no charge and unannounced. What a shock. Nobody acts that way. So calm, unworldly, and real.
The last time we spoke was a couple of days before his perplexing passing. We spoke of many things, mainly my trouble with glowplugs, but we did not speak of the weakness in his voice. I asked for a random plug that he did not stock and form a company that had just been bought out. The company was Beru and the part was not even available from them but Phil said that he would let me know. Two hours later he called me and said that he had found old stock on a random shelf from an obscure supplier somewhere and that the parts were on the way to me.
What a guy.
My 1st call now, unfortunately, is to the dealer and the second is to the Porsche guys. Not all bad, they do have cute stickers.
Phil makes me want to be a better man.
One last time, thank you Phil.

It's been quite a few months since I logged in and Now I found the sad news... A life like his can never be overestimated. To the extraneous bypasser he was a guy who knew a thing or two about cars; but for those of us who received his unconditional help, it is a rather sad moment. I lost my mom in 2012, little did I know that there was one more loss to account for for 2012... he will be missed.

Holy ****. I just finished crying. Phil and I had many long phone conversations. We were very close. My granny died a month and a half before Phil. There is a lot missing from my life now. I cared for my granny until her last breath and made sure she took it in her own bed in her own home. I literally watched her die for five agonizing hours sept 5th, while I tended to her and made sure she was comfortable. All this, but I still can't comprehend she's gone. With Phil, the loss is that much more profound. I hope I'm lucky enough to meet him again.

What was Phil's favorite song? Does anyone know?

That is sad news to hear ...

It was some years ago that I enjoyed my first conversation with Phil that has kept me coming back to PeachParts ever since. He simply made me feel like I was among his oldest friends, and the fact that he seemed so glad to hear from me made me feel so glad that I'd called. I'm sad to hear of his passing and so sorry to know that his family and friends are enduring the incredible pain of loss. I can only imagine that the warmth he showed to me -- a person he'd never met -- was multiplied a million-fold to those he cherished during his life.

Like many of you that haven't checked in to the forum for some time, I am also just now learning of the sad news of Phil's passing. My condolences to his close friends and family. I didn't know Phil personally, but we spoke on the phone a few times. He was so knowledgeable about his trade and just a great guy to deal with. The first time I ever called him, he spoke to me like we had known one another for years. He always pointed me in the right direction when trying to locate obscure parts. Heck, once he even discouraged me from special ordering some parts that were overpriced - instead he gave me the name of someone else who he thought could help me out. Who does that anymore? It really speaks to his character and integrity. To Phil's family, I know your pain. All I can say is that although the pain never fades, it does become more manageable with time - the initial feeling of loss will fade and be replaced with all the memories you have. Hopefully you have found your peace. Take care and God bless.

Its been a months since I have been on the forum and to come back to see a memoriam for Phil. It seems so surreal.
Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during these difficult times.

Peace.

The man who cared so much about your parts was the man I watched my whole life live and love people in that very way. Every ridiculous worry I had or dumb thing I came to him with he greeted with concern, love and like you all have noticed, made my problems his problems. I have to say he cared so much about all of you. I used to laugh at him as he went on and on about all the wonderful people he got to talk to on a daily basis and got so much joy out of helping others. My grandfather used to say my dad "never met a stranger". That was a statement I never understood as a kid but now know is true. He was so geniune, so loving and so wonderful. What you saw is what you got, nothing fake. He was exactly the same way at home as he was on that phone with his customers. I can't even breathe to picture a world without him in it. He was my confidant, my rock, who I turned to when I hurt. I am hurting now and he is gone. Everyone would always say "Phil would give you the shirt off his back" and one day he actually did, I kid you not. I watched him take his shirt off and give it to someone who didn't have one and it was cold. Thank you, all of you truly for your kind words. I needed to see that others loved him as much as he loved you all.
So Sorry for your loss, I spoke with Phil many times..A Great Man!! God Bless..REST in PEACE.. Sincerly Ed Alberini

Phil's Passing

I too want to echo the sentiments of all the others that have posted on the passing of the Wonderful man. I befriended Phil many years ago and come to know him as part of my extended family. I cordially referred to him as "Uncle Phil" when ever I spoke to him to order parts. He will most certainly be sorely missed

Those words from Phil's daughter are very moving and in just a handful of conversations over the last 10 years of ordering various parts from Phil I could tell that her description is true. One time in particular when my wife's car had a busted water pump and I could only afford to do the work myself, Phil helped me and really went the extra mile on an unusual request. I hope that Phil's family and friends smile when they think of Phil, I know I do.
