R129 '93 - Replacement Cat?

Unfortunately that time has come when my original cat has started to show the signs of failure and so I wanted to canvas others opinions on OEM replacements and patent parts.

MB have quoted 1400UKP which is ok should you wish to keep the car for another 15 years and is probably reasonable value, however I can't plan that far in advance so I'm looking for a quality replacement at an economic price.

It's firstly a single box unit and the gas analysis shows a perfect lambda (1.000, fluctuating +/- 0.002) so I assume that the lambda sensor and control system is fine. However CO is around 0.2 to 0.5 fluctuating and here in the UK the limit has just been reduced from 0.3 to 0.2!

Has anyone experience of bosel cat replacements or any others for that matter.

Cheers
Lea

Learoy, off topic I know, but there is a six bar grille on UK ebay for buttons at the moment.

Lea,

I just put a Bosal Cat on my Porsche and she was perfect on CO (everything for that matter) before she spun a bearing. My 600SL passed smog recently with no problems, so no need to replace it on that car just yet.

Hi Justin

Bosal is my favorite patent exhaust manufacturer and so it's looking like I'll head to them. But I want to keep the car for at least 5 years and so hope to ensure the Cat's good for that time plus a little to sell ;-)

Bosal I hope should be good for 5 years but just wanted to canvas any other's opinion before 'splashing my hard earnt cash!

I might make a cross post to the help forum, as cats aren't really R129 specific.

JJ - long time no hear - hope all is well. Off to eBay to take a look - how did you guess that I'm still looking ;-) Cheers, nice to old and new friends are here on the forums.

Thanks both
Lea

Whooops, just visited the Bosal website and they do not supply a R129 exhaust!!! Can you believe that!

Might be worth giving them a ring though....
