I'm traveling to Asheville this weekend in my 124 so this thread is good to know about in case I have any troubles I can't deal with on my own.

What is the address of Gary's Automotive?

Thanks.

I'm late getting here. I've only owned a 190E since 2007, and discovered Gary's Automotive in 2008. Gary has been really patient with me. I have come in there with some really wild explanations of what I needed done. He and Todd always figure out what I want, and we get it done. Slowly but surely, my car has come back from the brink to the good-running machine that it is today.

Gary adjusted my transmission for me. He called me and told me that he couldn't do anything for it, and to come and get it. I got there, and he tells me that the bands are just worn nearly out, and be ready for a rebuild, eventually. No charge!!!

Gary and Todd are checking through their collections of cars to find me a transmission. I'll need one, eventually.

If I had not run into these guys, I would probably have given up on this car a long time ago. It was a mess of badly done repairs by people that had no business working on it.

Sometimes, I ride by Gary's to chat for a minute, and give Todd a hard time about nothing. They are always busy. I have 2 friends with Benz's, and they are satisfied with his work, too.

Gary's automotive was recommended to me from a number of people around town. I gave them a try with a new to me Mercedes I just picked up. I had a very long list and to say the least they fixed everything perfect, and not to mention my bill was almost half price of what I expected it to be. I have never seen so many Mercedes in my life. They have over 50 cars they use for parts, which is a real advantage to keeping prices down, not having to buy dealer parts. Real honest, easy to work with pair of guys.

I wanted to update some information for Gary's automotive, since they have recently moved their shop.
Their new address is:
434 Old 19 & 23
Candler, NC
Their phone number is still the same: (828) 665-3868

The new shop is a few miles further west than their old location. If you are coming from Asheville on 19/23, you bear left at the Kubota dealership, and Gary's is a couple miles down the road on the right. It's hard to miss them.

Todd has been very helpful with me and my car. He did a pretty thorough pre-purchase inspection, and has spent a lot of time answering many of my novice questions.

Todd and Gary just got through getting me through the heater core/water pump/radiator replacement on my 190E. I bought MB parts through them, except for the pump itself, and am happy with the results. They also ordered me a selection of the molded heater hoses.

Todd has access to the Benz parts computer now. We look up parts for my car by the VIN number, and they've been alot more right than the dealer has, recently.

When you turn off of Hwy 19/23 onto OLD 19/23, you will go about 3 miles total. There is a long straight-away, locally called, "The Mile Straight" that was rather unusual for a mountain highway when it was built. At the end of the mile-straight, slow down when you come to the next curve to the right. Gary's shop is on the right. Brand new metal building. You cant miss it.

I cant say enough good things about this shop, Gary, or Todd.
