Tripometer/ Odometer Broken

can anyone help me... i have 121,000 miles on my 1986 190E. I was filling up my tank, and once it was full, i began to drive off, i automatically always reset my tripometer, and it reset. I was driving away and i noticed that both the tripometer and odometer had quit counting miles, good for selling the car

but not good for trying to maintain it with oil changes, brakes, etc.

can anyone help
