Question merc c200-1997,waterpump part number?

it is a c200 1997 uk spec car.

are these water pump part numbers compatible?

111200 0401

111200 4001.

i am led to believe that 2nd number has replaced the first.

is this right and would the pumps be the same?

My EPC shows the current part number to be 111 200 40 01.

Bear in mind that my EPC does not show a 2 litre engine, the smallest I show is a 2.2 litre, however I feel confident enough that the same pump is used for all displacements of this block.

The reason you find two pert numbers is because MB made a change somewhere along the line. The current number is most likely what you will receive when you buy, but you could receive the old part number if the supplier hasn't exhausted his supply.

thanks for that.

i used the old part number(ending with 0401) to source a waterpump from a reliable aftermarket supplier called febi-bilstein.
hope i get the correct part for my car!

what does epc stand for ?

and how could i access it?

EPC stands for Electronic Parts Catalogue, the same one they have at the dealer. Copies abound, many on eBay. I am sure the copy that I have is a copy of a copy of a copy...., but it works. I once attempted to make a copy for someone on the board, but my burner or system apparently didn't make a complete copy as the program did not run for the person who received it.

i found a useful link in the after doing a search for "part number".

it allows me to enter a merc part number ,and it gives me part description, and price in euros which i thought was quite useful!.
