107 odometer & O2 Sensor Light
Had the Instrument Cluster out to fix the odometer. Highly recommend Jeff at www.odometergears.com.
While it was out I replaced all the light bulbs. Now the O2 sensor light is on constantly. Confused by reading the Maint CD. One paragraph says to remove the O2 light after the 120,000 check, another says to push a reset button, but doesn't give a location. If the answer is to remove the light, how do you know when to change the O2 sensor? |

The answer
Went by the local dealer with the questionable maint instructions in hand. Finally found a knowledgeable tech. The regulations regarding O2 sensors we very lax when they were first made. So the 81-85 design was strictly based on mileage and can not be reset. Therefore the correct answer is to pull the bulb.
After 86, the requlations were changed and the system upgraded to allow multiple resets. The way to check whether the sensor is working is to check the duty cycle through the diagnostic plug. |
