Resetting it makes no sense to me. If you've fixed the problem by replacing the MAF sensor, then after a test drive the mixture setting should go towards center. Or if it isn't the problem there will be no effect.
Now if you rest the adaptation, here is the problem. 1.00 is an "ideal" condition, and when you reset it it goes to 1.00. Lets say you were maxed out high, 1.31, now you reset the adaptation to 1.00 and test drive. You come back and recheck adaptation and it now reads 1.10. Hmmmmmmm...do you test drive again to see if it goes even higher (pegs itself again) or what??
As you can see I am a fan of just seeing the effect of replacing the sensor. I'm not 100% certain but I beieve that resetting the mixture self-adaptaion also rests the ring gear adaptation (and throttle position too I believe), and I already told you about how this can be a hassle to get relearned for misfire recognition.

Gilly,

On my car, after we drove the car with the new AMM and the fuel trim had returned to normal, I figured my tech had reset the adaptations. He has said that he had no cause to, since all were within normal parameters. I had figured that it would give you a "waypoint" to measure from, but as you have said, there is no need when they are normal.

Hhhmm.

Next time we've got that SDS hooked into my car (hopefully NOT anytime soon... ) I'll pay closer attention to the goings-on.

I'd love to have an SDS for myself, but I can imagine the price tag.

Unhappy

John
See all the years of the cars you own? Add those numbers all up and you might be in the ballpark on the price
