Just purchased a 1998 E320 w/ 113K on the Clock. THe books didn't come with car, but would like to know what type and weight motor oil I should be using. Also, how do you reset the Flexible Service Indicator.

If you do a search you will find many, many discussions on the subject. I would use Mobil 1 0w-40. You should be able to get a new owner's manual by calling 1 800 for mercedes

Oh no. Not another oil thread.
Basically for an FSS car, if you're going to follow the FSS intervals you MUST use synthetic of a weight that matches your climate conditions. Most folks believe that you should change it a little more often than FSS intervalse even if you use synthetic. If you use regular dino oil, it has been PROVEN that changing on FSS intervals is not often enough. There was even a lawsuit that came about because people were using dino oil, changing at FSS intervals that caused their engines to crud up like crazy. It's your car, your money and your business, but oil is cheap and engines are expensive. Good luck, Change oil hot and change oil often, |
