91 420SEL Steering Parts

Hi,
I am considering replacing as much of the steering parts and suspension that is within my abilities. Looking at the CD Manual they always list special tools that are needed. I have found in the past that many "special tools" can be fabricated out of pipe and metal scraps. But certainly not all. So I guess I am looking for any opinions out there. I have some clunking going on when going over bumps. The left front tire is wearing on the inside edge. I will need to buy two tires for the front and have the car aligned. I just know that they will suggest some replacemen parts and I wanted to narrow the field.

Ron
