I've got a loose marble
Somewhere in , I think, the dash area of my TE, there is something rolling around. When I stop, it rolls, and when I take off it rolls. Even when I go around turns it will sometimes make noise. I cannot imagine a flat area big enough under the dash that would allow for this noise to exist, but it is definately there and starting to drive me crazy. Anyone ever heard of this problem ?

Chances are that something dropped down the defrost vent on your dash and made it down to the AC ducting under the front carpet. This has come up before - it happened to me several years ago and it is in the archives for more detailed info. It is pretty easy to pull the front carpet and the high density rubber molded section that fits under the carpet and over the ductwork. All manner of odd bits make their way down there - my noise turned out to by my dad's pen. Sounded just like a marble rolling around, took about 1/2 hour to fix.

John, It was exactly as you described, only I had 2 wooden pencils in there. You don't know how much work and grief you have saved me as I was going positively crazy trying to find that noise. The next step for me was to tear the dash out. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Pete
