93 190e AC AND WINDOW problems?
First, the ac/heater. You can make any selection from the control panel and only the center and defrost vents work. You can change the fan speed and so forth but no changes to the vents. I am thinking the controller works but some part which controls the vents is broken. Perhaps a vacuum controller?
Secondly, the passenger side window will not roll up or down. Now, I have put in a new switch and took off the door skin. I have jumped 12v across the motor to see if the motor was bad. It will roll up and down this way. So, I am guessing my problem is some type of relay or limit switch. Do you sell the part that may fix this? Thanks Scott |

On the side dash vents, there are controls on the vents themselves, are these opened? On the window, it's possible that there is a broken wire inside the conduit where the wires pass from the chassis into the door (the corrugated rubber piece by the hinge). Gilly

GILLY,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I am sure the vents are open. What I am getting at is no matter what you select on the ac/heater control the center vent and defrost vent blow. Normally you can hear the vent doors open and close in the dash. I don't hear that. Secondly, I will check the boot to see if the wire is cut there. I am more thinking its some type of relay. Any other idea's? |

No relays involved. It is fused though of course, the right front is fused with the left rear, so check to see if the left rear is working. If not it may be a fuse.

I have the same problem with both rear windows (W124). The switches are fine, motors are fine too. It would be to good to be truth if both side wires inside the conduit are broken. I think it should be one common wire somewhere broken.

It could be wires in the conduit on each side, I've seen things like this before, especially on the 201 and 124 chassis range.
A couple things to bear in mind is the position of the rear window shutoff switch on the center console, and you also have to remember on the rears there are 2 switches that have to work properly; the one on the center console and the ones in the rear doors. Gilly

I have tried the rear window shutoff switch on the center console also - no help.
All switches on the central cosole and on the doors are fine - I replaced them one by one with front windows switches and check. All of them work with front windows. How can I reach the wires inside the conduit? Do I need to remove doors? Where do they come inside the salon? Maybe I can check them there? |

Start by removing the inside door panels and having someone operate the switch, while you check for power and ground to the motor.

HOW bout that AC problem? I wouldn't be worried about the window if the ac worked.
Like I said, you can adjust the amount of flow but cant direct the flow. It blows out of the defrost vents HOT and cool out of the center. If you try and adjust any of the ac it has no change? HELP OUT HERE GUYS. Thanks for the efforts. Scott |
