Measuring stick, automatic transmision w 210
I have a 1999 mod. E 240 V-6 with automatic trans. The car have a black cap, " Mercedes service only"I like measure the oil level in the transmision, and order a stick. Today I have it in my postbox. Part nr. W 140 589 15 21 00. I took of the black cap, and put in the new oil stick. But it is 30 cm to long? Are the new stick only for measuring? The oil level are between the marks, when the stick stops, but 30 cm remain before the stickhandle are in the oilpipe. Have I got a wrong stick, or what ?

Since the dipstick is a special tool & works in almost all MB 722.6 transmissions, it doesn't stay in the tube! To check the fluid level the dipstick should touch the bottom of the pan & that is where you get the correct reading. You need a new lock-tab to secure the cap back onto the tube

Keep in mind also that you need to check the fluid level with the car in gear and the fluid temp at exactly 80C to set it properly. Don't muck it up, as the 722.6 is VERY sensitive to fluid level.
