Compatible Cruise amplifers?

I have a 1989 420 SEL and I'd like to get my cruise control working. Mostly likely it is the cruise control amplifer (tempomat). My amp has the part number is 005 545 05 32. I found a 1986 420 SEL amp part number 003 545 07 32 at the junk yard, which is supposed to be working. When I took mine off, the connector end of the boxes looks different, but they do have the same number of pins. The main connector from the car will fit, but the boxes are not the same size and also my old one has resister or a module on the bottom that the 1986 does not have on the bottom.

Does anyone know if I can use the 1986 amp in my 1989?
