1992 300 m103 vacuum line/ fan shroud clip

Hi Guys,

Doing some reassembly and not sure of a vacuum connection.

One comes from line off of exhaust manifold, other comes from some vacuum junction box in front of washer bottle. Do they connect together?

Was going to attahc pics but they're too big.

Also ,anyone have the p/n for the metal clip that holds the fan shroud to the radiator?

Thanks, Jeff

hopefully this can help you a bit, someone else may have a detailed vacuum diagram.
The line that comes off the exhaust manifold ends up at a junction by the windscreen washer fluid bottle.
By the way, I noticed on your car that the coolant expansion tank overflow and radiator return hoses are in each other's 'holes'- i.e the return line is where the overflow hose should be and vis-versa. see pic.

Hi Chazola,

Thanks for your help. Wont be home till late tonite, will have to check tomorrow.

From the look of your pics, I may have other vac lines mixed up. The one coming from exhaust, does it go into a tee fitting? Or are there 2 seperate lines right at the shock tensioner? And where does the other one route to?

Another one in your pic- The one(blue color) near the dipstick connects to the large rubber hose on air cleaner? and comes up from under intake?

Thanks for the coolant line info also.

Best Rgds, Jeff

The one from the breather hose goes somewhere under the air cleaner (can't remember where without taking it off- fuel distributer possibly?)- mine is blue because it got brittle and snapped and I had to splice it.

There are 2 lines at the tensioner area and route underneath the distributor cap area at the front of the engine. One I think comes from the inlet manifold and goes to a junction at the washer bottle, and the other previously discussed one from the exhaust manifold 'meets' this one (but doesn't join it) and gets routed alongside it (as above) to another junction by the washer bottle.

I've taken a couple more pics of the lines, so hopefully this'll help with your plumbing!

"The thin blue line..."

That connects into the bottom of the air cleaner breather hose should be originating from the fuel pressure regulator ( in front of the Idle control valve).
It's function is to release fuel/vapors into the breather hose rather than into the engine compartment ( big time fire hazard) if the FPR should leak or fail completely.
The other lines I am not sure about - they differ from my older Euro 103.

one line left

Hi Guys,

Think I got the vac lines up on top of the engine all set. I got one left I have no idea where it connects to. I look all over and see nothing to connect it to. It comes from a junction box (or are they valve/switches ?) in front of washer bottle. It is not very long and will barely reach spark plugs so it seems like it would connect somewhere on the exhaust side of motor.

I changed head gasket and timing chain rails so had alot of disassembly over this summer. Long reassembly timeas I hurt my back midway and had to postpone. Haven't driven car sine but motor starts up and runs smooth.

Symptoms of this line. When car is cold, first started, seems like air pump is loud. This line is drawing a vacuum at that point. After car warms up, air pump noise goes away(pump stops?) and then no vaccum at this line. Seems to be smooth idle thruout. Any vac lines connect to air pump? I can't see a port thou.

Any thoughts?

Thanks , Jeff

Hi Jeff, that line plugs in to the back of the air-pump. Looking at your second pic, under the front of the exhaust manifold, there's a thin flat metal shield above the air pump- the line plugs in just under that. I couldn't see exactly 'cause of the angle but feel around or get under the car and I'm sure you'll find it.

Now you can come show me how to replace my head gasket...

Hi Chaz,

Wow, looked under car toward bottom of pump and toward front of pump, didn't think to look at the top of it under that shield. thanks!

head gasket, pc of cake, just don't bust a chain rail like I did,

a bunch more work with no real gain.

If you do and need any info ,let me know.

Thanks again, Jeff
