Question 400E Highbeam Problem

My 400E had recently been in an accident and was worked on by a bodyshop that really did not know what they where doing. I'm fighting with the insurance company to approve an authorized shop to the repair, but for now this is what I've got.

The problem with the highbeams is this:

1. If you switch on the highbeams, the passenger side headlight turns off and the fog light comes on. The driver's side is fine and works as it should. In regular non highbeam both lights work fine, but the momemtary (pulling back on the highbeam switch) highbeam does not work at all on either side.

Anyone ever experiance this weird problem?

Did the repair require replacement of the headlight assemblies? If so - perhaps the connectors got smashed in the accident, and somebody wired the new connectors on in the wrong way.

Sounds like it could be a bad ground. See if all of the ground wires are still hooked up. Many a small body shop can't be bothered with such minor stuff.

Smile solution found!

Troy,

Thanks for the advice! That was exactly it. The end connectors where smashed in the accident and they where replaced incorrectly. Just opened them up and compared them to the working ones and that was it. Everything is working great now.
