The hood switch is, I believe, for the anti - marten protection. Keeps big tree rodents from eating the rubber and wiring out of the cars by shocking their little feet. Not connected to the alarm.
If your alarm keeps going off, you should probably look for a loose or bad sensor switch in one of the doors. I don't know how to disarm the thing permanently, I've only had it go off once, and that was when I left a door ajar and opened it to re-close it. Embarassing, as it was at a wedding. Peter
