Check Engine Light on...now what?
I own a 1995 SL320, with 40,000 miles on it. The check engine light came one. The manual says it means either an emissions or a fuel injection problem. The car drives fine, so I assume it's not fuel injection. In relation to emissions (if that's what is), could it just be a sensor? Would a catalytic converter failure cause this?
Any input would be helpful! |

have you done a SEARCH on this site?
OBD fitted car I assume, so have your codes checked AUTOZONE will do it for free. Bring the code numbers back here and you can ask what those particular codes mean. Have you tested full acceleraton, floored it through the gears to see if that is flawless? |

You might try removing and reinstalling the gas cap. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest seeking professional help. The components in that car are far too expensive to be tweaking on unless you are experienced.

Check Engine light Pre:96
On your vehicle you should be able to retrieve the Diagnostic Codes via an impulse counter. Simply count the blinks and then test a particular circuit based on the code number. The testing could get involved but retrieving a code, that's a snap.
