81 240D electrical problems

Looking for help on this one, the niece wanted to 'drive' down the driveway so she gets behind the wheel and I start it up (4 speed) and she lets out on the clutch too fast and kils it. when i try to crank it back up, i get this odd sounding buzzer (not the normal inside buzzer sound) when the key is turned to 'glow' and then nothing when i go to 'start' with the key. the glow plug box on the front left fender well growls when the key is on 'glow' and the lights are dim. I've cleaned the grounding strap from the bell housing to the chassis as well as the battery cables/terminals. I've switched the aux fan and starter relays on the front left fender well to check those but nothing. ANY IDEAS?

Sounds like a dead battery. Either that or a good one poorly attached.
