I was having some intermittent problems with my wiper (1994 E320 Cabriolet (124 Chassis))so I replaced the motor. Now I have two new problems:

1) The wiper delay feature still does not work.

2) The wiper does not fully retract when it is shut off. It does run the full motion when it is on, but rests at about 20 degrees above the normal off position when the wiper is off.

Has anyone had a similar experience or any suggestions on how to resolve these issues?

The link on the wiper motor more than likely was put back on in the wrong position. OR if you "swear" it was put back on correctly, then possibly when you put it on, the motor was not in the parked position when the link was installed. The key to remembering this is that when the motor is parked and the wiper linkage is in the parked position, the link (that goes on the motor shaft) and the wiper linkage should be over each other.
On the delay wipers, it could be either the combination switch or the combination relay, the switch is a more common failure.

On mine recently, it was the combo relay. If the switch is bad, you can expect other functions on the stalk to to give problems as well, like the high/low beams or the turn signals.

Unfortunately, I shelled out $124 for the combo relay! And that was a GOOD price!

Thanks for the suggestions.

When you remove the wiper assembley (to get to the wiper motor) you have to move the mechanism to get to all of the nuts. Apparently you have to get the mechanism back to the rested position before you plug it back into the power. Now it works just fine. For anyone doing this in the future I would suggest marking the lowest resting position prior to disassembling.

I am getting pretty good pulling this apart and putting it back together again.
