broken sun visor assembly - 91 560SEL

my sun visor on the driver's side broke. The assembly piece that holds the hinged side (pivot) of the visor (fastened with 2 screws) cracked and will not hold the visor no more. My local dealer tells me that the assembly piece that broke is not a replaceable part, and that i need to buy the whole visor assembly. they want $218. Do you guys know where I could find this part? or perhaps a repair solution?

thx,
emmy

Potomac German Auto: http://www.mbpartsonline.com/

They specialize in salvage MB parts. Potomac Pat is a member of this forum, and is very knowledgeable/helpful. Ask for him, he's great to deal with.

I have a '89 126 body - and the samething happened to me, just on the passenger side (the wife doesn't like west sun in the afternoon, so sun visor gets alot of excerise).

My mechanic stocks the part, and said my cost would be $11. I described the problem again, to make sure he understood exactly which part was in question. He looked at a diagram, then found the part in his garage - $11.
