New Engine number for MB reman?

I have a 1978, 300D with an engine I think that was remanfactured at MB. The engine number has been removed from the block and a plaque riveted to the block above and to the left of the vacuum pump. It says:

Original Mercedes-Benz
Tauschaggregat
Teil-Nr.: 6170107000 82
Bm 617912 Agg. Nr. 874759

I have to order some major engine parts and need to know the right engine number. Help.

The "Bm 617912" is the engine type. Take a look at this chart:

The "Agg. Nr. 874759" may be your engine number. Are the last six digits of your VIN 874759?

Tausch I think means EXCHANGE
Teil means PART
