Angry C220 won't go forward. HELP!!!

The other day I was driving along, and stopped at an intersection. When the light turned green, I stepped on the accelerator, and... nothing. It's like the tranny jumped into neutral. Now all I have is park, reverse and neutral. The gear selector moves through it's whole range with no problems, but the tranny won't engage anything past neutral. Before this happened the car was driving fine, and there was no indication that the tranny may have jumped out of gear, while I was waiting for the traffic light to turn green.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Great, thanks. I just heard back from the dealer, and they're saying tranny rebuild, and new torque converter . My question now, is if the B2 piston failed, is there any reason that a complete overhaul might be required? Or, are they misinformed?

As the link says if the piston failed there really is no need for an overhaul. Not just the dealer but a lot of shops will just say "Rebuild" the minute you walk in the door. It happened to me. Tell them what you know and see what they say.

The MB dealer and all the local transmission shops told me the same thing! They're all crooks!

That seems to be the standard reply. I told mine the info I had, so they're just going to replace the piston.

Well, so far;
THe dealer doesn't have the tools to do the piston repair, so they would have to pull the tranny and send it off to Toronto. To R&R the tranny is 7hrs labour on top of the tranny work and parts. My service advisor recommended I find someone else local to try and repair this.
I've been to a couple of local shops and one doesn't touch automatic trannys, so he gave me the name of a transmission shop they deal with. The other one said he could probably replace the piston, but with no guarantee that the tranny would work. If it doesn't, he said he wouldn't charge for labour.
Right now, I'm seriously considering trying to do this on my own.

B2 piston repair Dealer has no tools?

What tools? Nothing out of ordinary is required to remove the piston cover and then slip out the piston and holder.

Dealer is speaking bullssst.

LEt the indy do it.

Well, their standard response to any tranny problem, seems to be; pull it out and send it out to get rebuilt
In the morning I'm going to check out another shop that has good word of mouth.
I'll keep you updated.

Well, my saga is finally over.
Last Friday I had the car towed from the dealer to the indie. He couldn't get to it until Moday, when he pulled the tranny. He told me he couldn't get to the piston from the outside so sent it to his tranny guy. Anyhow, he called me today and the tranny guy says B2 piston needs to be replaced(everything else is OK), so he's ordered a new one from MB. The mechanic also discoverred that the driveshaft coupling is worn out, so he's going to put in a new one(says the car should be much smoother now ) Total bill; $850.00 CDN. Not bad for 9hrs labour plus parts.
It's definitely a hell of a lot better than the dealer recommendation, of tranny rebuild + new torque converter for 5200.00

Actually, my local dealer was the one that recommended that I find an indie shop, as it would save me money. The service advisor told me that the book rate to pull and reinstall the tranny was 7hrs labour + whatever parts and labour were for the piston at the MB tranny shop. This is actually the first time my car has been worked on away from the dealer(But, definitely not the last ), as my dealer has always been very reasonable. This indie I found is also very reasonable, but a hell of a lot cheaper
