Hi Gilly,
here the list No Speedometer ( now jumps in once in a while during driving but seems to work not under 40 km/h ?? when the speedometer turns on the econometer also works No Temp gauge at all times ABS light is on ( goes out when start , turns on after 30 feet ) ASR light is on ( goes out when start , turns on after 30 feet ) No outside temperture gauge in cluster ( may be from before it has never worked ) Since the fuse 10 amp was replaced the ABS light goes out when I start the car but still goes on after a few feet. Will do the test this coming weekend , radio shack did nt have all the parts to make the test ligt so i will keep you updated. I do run into computers ( on Ebay ) once in a while that go for very low monies but Im not sure what problems I will run into, Ben |

Charger Info
Just a minor clarification on chargers.
There is a big difference between a "trickle charger" and a "batter tender" (which is a brand name, but refers to a charger with electronic control). A trickle charger is stupid (not meaning you for buying it, but) - it always gives a little juice, and if your battery if full, it can aid in electrolyte evaporation (sometimes by boiling), and if you hook it up wrong it just tries it's best to charge to battery backwards. A "batter tender" is smart - if you hook it up wrong, it shuts itself off (usually with a warning light) - and more important, if your battery is charged fully, then the tender shuts itself off and monitors charge until needed again. I carry a copy of the battery tender (I manage a motorcycle parts shop) - it comes with adapters with alligator clips, permanent battery mounts, and cigarette type adapter, all in a nice carrying case. It runs less than $50 (private PM please for more info). -David |

Hi Guys,
If anyone comes up with a solution please pm me. I'm having almost the same exact problem with my 97 S420 except none of my gauges have come back on. Gilly has forwarded some ideas to me and all have checked OK. I just recently found that the drivers electric seat has been dead as well, fuses are OK. Everything else is working. I noticed today that the electric windows have started acting up when you try and move them up. To get them up you have to push and let go, push and let go and continue about 10 times. It moves about a half inch up at a time then finally moves a larger distance. It does not do this all of the time but it doesn't matter which window either. Anybody a psychic or have a crystal ball? Damest thing I've ever seen. Thanks Guys. One other note my control module does not have the glass cover over the fuses. I replaced all fuses in there, there was one that was empty and that was the far right fuse. Someone had put a very small piece of masking tape near the fuses that was marked in pencil # 3. May have been a problem here in the past, not sure, bought this car as a Star Mark in 2000. Car had roughly 35,000 miles when purchased, now has 105,000. lee Last edited by lee00058; 11-15-2004 at 09:47 PM. |
