front crank seal

1987 300D

Verbatim:

remove Radiator
remove poly "V" belt
remove Belt pulley (You assume from the "Crank")
remove vibration damper
remove crank radial seal

[Of course it shows a "Special Tool" for removal and installation]

(Mechanic's Pick for removal and LARGE socket for installation , MY
Method)

Wher the heck are all the real experts??

Wink

compress ignite did a good job for the front seal! OF course the rear seal ia a "rope" seal & the crankshaft has to be removed to replace the upper half.

Thank You, M.B. Doc

"ask and thou shalt recieve"
The Doctor was in.

A question?

two versions of front crank seal:1st is to be installed after oiling rubber lip,
2nd version (which is what C.M. has on the 603.960 ,I believe) is to be
installed dry????
