Removing the resonator on W208 CLK55

I recently picked up my W208 CLK55 and would like to hear a louder exhaust note. I've heard that some people remove the resonator from their car. My question is, where is the resonator located? Also how difficult is it to remove? And if someone has experience with this, how much louder does it sound?

I was also looking at my exhaust headers, and was suprised to find a log-type design. Is there a good aftermarket header I could install to swap out the stock one? One of my concerns is clearance, all the domestic V-8's I've owned had plenty of room for new headers but there isn't much space in my CLK55's engine bay.
