W201 instrument panel cover removal
Did a search and could not find any specifics but here is my issue:
I have the Factory manuals on the W201. In the book it shows the cover for the instrument panel(under the steering column) and it is held in place by several screws along the front edge. I just went to remove mine to pull the instrument cluster and there are no screws along the front edge. I can pull it down from the back but it does not release anything on the front. My question, was there an alternate method that they used to secure that panel on the 89 model? Don't want to tug too hard for fear of breaking something.

The screws are under the black plastic edge covers along the top! Pull them out and three screws are below and one next to the hood pop lever.

So just pull the black cover off from the back to the front and it should come off without taking any screws or anything out? I don't see anything that I would classify as an edge cover, it is just one piece that goes from back to front and side to side.
