Front turn signal problem - help
My front turn signals worked fine until I decided to change the bulbs (changing from blue to amber).
I couldn't get the bulbs out, so I had to pull out the plastic piece (which contains the prongs) from the socket. Had to do this to both sides. After getting the bulbs out, I couldn't get the new ones in, they wouldn't turn and lock into place, so I had to heat the plastic assembly inside by placing it near the fire place for a minute or two. Finally got the bulbs in. Hooked everything back up. The turn signals worked when the headlamps and parking lamps were off but didn't when they were on - this is what it appeared to be at first. But after looking closely, I found out that they do work but the filaments are now reversed. There are 2 filaments in the bulb (a bright one and a duller one). The bright one is suppose to be the turn signal and the duller one is suppose to come on as the parking lamp, but now it is reversed! Now the bright filament is now the parking light and the dull filament is the turn signal. Therefore, the bright parking filament drowns out the turn filament and you can't notice it all when the parking/headlamps are on. What is the solution to this. I believe I hooked everything back correctly, as the bulb can go in any way and there is only one way to put the plastic plug piece (which has 3 metal prongs and a plastic one) back into the socket. Any ideas, much appreciated.

Either you have the wrong bulbs or you did manage to get them in "backwards" so that the contacts are reversed. The little "legs" sticking out (at least on US bulbs, anyway) are keyed -- one side is lower down on the bulb than the other -- so that you can only get them inserted one way.
I've never had any problem changing an MB bulb unless they were seriously corroded, and your shouldn't have been. Peter

Thanks Peter,
I think my problem should be solved now, thanks for your help. I put back in one of the old bulbs in and it worked fine (I made note of the legs as well, which I actually didn't notice before). I think I also may have the wrong bulbs as well, do you know? I got my bulbs from MB but they have 2357A on them. Are these the right ones? I read on earlier posts that sylvania makes 1157A for my car? Do I have the right ones, or is it 1157A the right ones? I will look into tomorrow during the day as it is too dark now. If anyone knows if I have right bulbs or if 1157A are the right ones, please let me know. Thanks, Steve

Even Canadian Tire should have a reference book with the appropriate bulbs listed. There should also be a number on the bulbs you took out, but it may not match the ones at the auto parts store.
I believe 1157 is the correct number for a dual filament bulb, and you probably want the yellow/orange one if you have clear corner lights. Use only Sylvania/Osram, they are the closest to factory spec. Peter
