Quick Answer-Starting / Shifter Prob E320 m104

Sorry, no time to search--sometimes engine will not start but battery (new) is fine. Turn the key--nothing. Wiggle the auto shifter, car starts. I was told by MB probably the "neutral" switch. What is it, how do I get at it, is it repair or replace? Can I live with it for a while or sign of impending repair?

On our Volvo 960 there was a shift interlock problem--could not shift out of Park except press override button. No override button in the Benz! If I put the car in neutral, will I always be able to start it?

Thanks in advance
