Partial Center Console Illumination Failure W124

Hello,

I've searched but cannot find the answer. My '86 300E has lost illumination to only the Temperature Control wheel and the driver's side 3 Climate Control Buttons. It was in and out intermittently for a day before going totally south. Is this a bulb of it's own or is it connected to the fiber optic octopus?

Thanks

It appears there are two bulbs in the module?

I have just been there and done that last evening. Mine was the same way. The left bulb by the temp. control is done gone south on you. To replace you have to remove the wood grain cover over the climate control. It is held on by two screws on the bottom side. After removing it you will see two elect. tape covers. Under them the bulbs are located. It takes a small plastic tube to remove the bulbs. I used a little super glue on the end of it to remove the bulb. They take W2.1W bulbs that can be purchased at nearly any auto parts house. Replacing the new one with a straw or plastic tube and just twist it to remove from the bulb. It's no more than a 20 min. job once you get going.

Thanks. Though, I believe they are 1.2W bulbs -- anyway that's what the store had in the size and they work. Also, being too cheap to buy a whole roll of aluminum tape to replace the covers, I kept the original squares and re-glued them with a little contact cement.

Sure were a hassle to get out.
