Carpet Color

I know this isn't too techincal....but I am trying to see if there is a way to identify carpet color via a VIN code or some other code

I have a 1988 Smoke Silver 300e.... the seats might be Palomino Tex, the carpet appears a bit darker than the seats and maybe with a little/brown/rust in them..

The trim code is available from the VIN but unless you are buying pieces from MB it doesn't tell you much.

The interior color code is on the data plate in front of the radiator but there's so many 3 digit codes on the plate that it's hard to tell which is the right one - unless you already know the number. It probably starts with a 2. You can take your VIN to the dealer and ask them to run a VMI, vehicle master inquiry, for your car, and that will show it. The VMI is a good thing to have anyway - lots of interesting information.

Thanks...through a digital picture swap, I think I found some original NOS mats for my 1988 300e
