Thumbs down ML 320 wimpy defroster

Greetings. . .
Although heat and air is moving from the defroster vents (and side controllable outlets)...we've found to keep the windshield and both front side windows clear, the fan has to run at maximum all the time. .. forget keeping the rear door windows clear....
Outside temps are 20-30 F...
thoughts?

Replace filters

Do you have replaceable air filters in the car? Maybe they're clogged and your airflow is way down.

You've got the recirculated air switched off, yes?

Have to shut off at least the dash center vents (with the thumbwheels) and set the side ones to the small "defroster" emblems printed next to the wheels.
If the blower motor sounds like it's straining or vibrating, the blower cage could be plugged.
