190 Central Locking System
I have a question about exactly how the central locking system is supposed to work on my 1987 190 Euro model. I have done alot of work on the system to get it back into working condition. Everything seems to be working fine. Was this car designed so that when you pull the inside drivers door handle all of the doors are supposed to unlock and the drivers door to open up at the same time. My car has the theft proof type of door lock plungers so pulling them up to unlock the doors is not possible. Ii guess what I am trying to ask is that it seems funny that Mercedes would have a system where I have to open my door with the inside handle to get the other doors to unlock.

Would this not be a type of child safety lock?
After all the driver is supposed to be the responsible one, if you want the doors to open, don't engaged the locks, just shut the door. I never had a problem with this system. I found it quite refreshing from the American type lock systems, but that's just me ![]() xp
