560SEL tranny problems
I'm having an issue with my tranny which I'm having trouble figuring out. When I got the car, it would slam when downshifting expecially before going into a corner or turn when brake use was light. Now 2K miles later I'm leaking tranny fluid from somewhere above the pan and I can't tell where its coming from. The sensor in the header exhause pipe is seeping tranny fluid as well. The fluid is traveling inside the wire insulation. Its seeping out cracks and breaks in the outer insulation as well as at the sensor where the insulation stops. Is this likely something thats a $100 fix, or would I be better off getting a rebuilt tranny for ~$1200? This tranny has not quite 70,000 miles on it, however I'm finishing up rebuilding the engine so it wouldn't surprise me if it needed work to.
If there are any other details I can provide which would help, please let me know since I can get under their fairly easily for more information Thanks in advance! Scott |

try modulator first
if the modulator is bad it will suck trans fluid up the vacuum hose and appear to be coming from up higher, if it gets to vacuum source at intake manifold will likely cause oil burning symtoms from tailpipe.

I'll check the modulator. Oh something else to mention. The tranny has been leaking fairly steadily since I've had it up on jack stands (about 2 months) I've wiped off the bottom but the fluid reappears...
BTW JBWabco, do you work on Locomotives? |
