Engine won't restart or stay running

I have a 1989 300 e that starts fine when engine operating temperature cold, irrespective of ambient temperature. If the engine is up to operating temperature and engine is shut off, it will not start again until the engine cools down. also, after the car is running for awhile it sputters and dies.

my friend has worked on my car (likes diesels, hates gasers) and he has replaced the fuel pump relay and water temperature sensor.

help.

Do a search on OVP. It certainly could be your problem.

The OVP has even been blamed for world hunger too.
