Now what you said about the cost $500-$700 to do it sounds great. Funny that you said valve covers,,,,, they were loose. Now the tranny is leaking but i dont know were it is coming from. I did have the car on a lift and put a new tranny seal in it and the leak slowed down. I put on the lift and check it again. Rob |

I think you're better off to have a pro examine the situation and advise the condition of the cams, valve guides, valve stem seals, and related components (maybe only 1 or 2 lifters bad). Have the rings checked with a leak-down tester. I'm betting if the guides and cams are acceptable, you will be OK with new seals and replacing the bad lifter(s) (if any). Nice sound system, and be sure to post pics of the CNC milled speaker grilles.

Try changing your oil weight to get rid of "ticking" noise in the morning. I had it done so, I switch to 20-50W, the noise went away. It could be a lifter or it could be the wrong oil viscosity, and finally it is possible that valve in the oil filter housing is bad and let the oil flow back to the crankcase. Try doing a search on the forum and you will find tons of post on this topic.
Do not throw money on the issue, try to diagnose before spend some, you can end up spending $$$$ on a problem which could be very easy to fix. If you are not a serious DIYer, try to find a reliable independent machanic. This forum also has a link, look under "general discussion" and then click on "Good MB shops". Hope it helps, Keep us posted.
