How do I Replace Shifter Assembly on 01 W210?

The touchshift on my 01 E320 is not working. Dealer says its the shifter assembly. Any ideas on how to get this out?

Shifter assembly

So, you spilled some liquid on your console. Since the shifter is an electrical assembly connected by wiring to the trans, it is indeed kaput.

I think you start by removing the console. Look down into the bottom of the armrest cubbyhole where you may find some screws. I'm just guessing since my '01 C320 with the same shifter and trans is so far unwet.

This is a common denied warranty claim at the dealer. The young blondes in their SLKs spill a latte on the console which creates a one-speed transmission.
