W124 blower motor change, new part doesn't fit

Hey all,

Just got a new blower motor with squirrel cages for my 1992 300D 2.5 Turbo W124. I put it in it's slot and the cages rub on the case that holds the assembly. Shouldn't this be adjusted properly from the factory or do I get the wrong part? Else, what's and easy way to slide the squirrel cages over just a little bit? I don't want the thing to get ou of balance....

Thanks much!
-m

PS: Also, the new motor came with a new base piece.... Might I have to use that with the new motor?
